Acupuncture for Fibromyalgia
I have spent a lot of time reading and writing about fibromyalgia, as well as listening to patients and healthcare providers talk about how difficult this condition is. Fibromyalgia affects people physically, emotionally and mentally. It can be a long road to obtain a formal fibromyalgia diagnosis, and many patients worry about the possibility of stigma once they are diagnosed.
Fibromyalgia is a condition with many symptoms, including widespread pain, stiffness, non-restorative sleep, fatigue, and much more. The Central Nervous System and Immune System are disrupted, leading to a cascade of issues. The symptoms shift and evolve, and can be different from one day to the next.
For patients with Fibromyalgia, acupuncture has been shown to reduce pain and improve quality of life. It also increases the flow of blood to muscles and the skin to reduce symptoms, and regulates the nervous system to change the body’s experience of pain.
Beyond the trial data, I’ve been able to help Fibromyalgia patients in my clinic in many ways, including:
· Shrinking the areas of pain
· Reducing pain
· Alleviating heaviness in limbs
· Relieving stiffness
· Restoring physical function
· Reducing allodynia symptoms
· Increasing energy
· Clearing brain fog
· And more
If you have Fibromyalgia, please know that I see you, and I know that your experience is real. Some acupuncture with moxa may be just what you need to feel more like yourself.
