Does Acupuncture work for depression?
In my practice, I have been treating a lot of people for anxiety, Seasonal Affective Disorder, and depression.
Depression is a serious and difficult condition that affects people mentally, physically and emotionally. It impacts ability to work, social interactions, and more. It can be a sensitive topic, and one that can be difficult to talk about.
A recent study found that the rate of depression in the US is three times higher during the COVID-19 pandemic compared to before the pandemic. Before the pandemic, 8% of adults said they had depression—and if you multiply that out to the number of people in the world, that’s a lot of people to begin with. Now, more than 1 in 4 adults in America say they are suffering from depression. Most people with depression say it has an impact on their daily lives and ability to function.
If you are feeling depressed, it is important to get the help that you need. There are a lot of professionals out there who can help. Acupuncture can help reduce the symptoms of depression, and is great when combined with seeing a therapist, too.
Acupuncture has been shown to help with the symptoms of:
· Depression
· Depression-related insomnia
· Major Depressive Disorder
· Post-partum depression
· Seasonal Affective Disorder
If you suffer from any of these, again, please seek the help that you need, and know that your acupuncturist can help.
