Try this tea for Autumn Wellness
We recently held a community session called Autumn Wellness that included acupuncture, aromatherapy and food energetics for the Fall season. During our gathering, we shared some tea that provides excellent support for the coming months. And, it makes your house smell incredible! It’s simple to make - give it a try!
You start by putting 4 to 5 cups of water into a pot. Then, slice an Asian pear, removing the seeds and core. Add it into the water along with a cinnamon stick, 2 jujubes (red dates), and a peeled one-inch piece of fresh ginger. Allow the tea to simmer for 15-20 minutes. Turn off the heat and add 1/2 teaspoon of local honey. It’s that easy! You can drink the tea hot, or allow the ingredents to steep into the tea for a bit longer.
Feel free to adjust the ingredients according to your preference. You can add a little more honey, or an extra jujube, or reduce the ginger if it’s too warming for you.
Don’t throw out the ingredients. The pears are delicious!
In Traditional Medicine, here’s what the ingredients do to support you:
Pears are an Autumn powerhouse. They provide hydration and help to soothe coughs, mucus and a sore throat. They are great for tonifying the Lung.
Cinnamon provides warmth
Jujubes nourish Blood and support intestinal health
Fresh ginger is warming, aids digestion, resolves phlegm and tonifies the Lung
Honey is great for providing hydration
You can find jujubes at an Asian market or online. If you haven’t tried Asian or Korean pears, give them a try for sure! They are so crisp and juicy. You can find them at Asian markets or at many organic markets.
Enjoy!
