Winter Solstice
Winter is here! A co-worker of mine used to tell me that December 21st is her favorite day of the year, because it means that longer days and daylight are ahead. I love this perspective on Winter Solstice.
With winter here, it is easy to see how Mother Nature is changing around us. The trees are bare and are drawing their sap deep down. Animals have thicker coats and are slowing down, perhaps hibernating. There’s a natural quiet that falls around us during this time of year.
The changes happening around us are also happening within us. We are not separate from nature. Our lives may ask us to keep moving, keep pushing, to say busy—but what we really need is time to rest, nourish and go deeply within. It can be unsettling when the demands of life ask us to be in direct conflict with the rhythm of nature.
If you’re feeling this tension and want some relief, there’s help available. Acupuncture, moxa and a few easy additions to your meals can support you in Winter, and help you to get some well-earned rest
